Cookie Policy

Last Updated: March 18, 2026

This Cookie Policy supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more broadly. It explains what cookies are, how Northgate Learning Studio GmbH (“Northgate Learning Studio”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, and how you can manage your preferences.

We use cookies to keep the site functioning reliably, to understand how content is used (when you allow analytics), and to support advertising measurement and remarketing (when you allow marketing cookies). Essential cookies are always active because the site cannot work correctly without them. Analytics and marketing cookies are optional and will not be activated unless you explicitly opt in.

1) What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. Cookies help a website remember information about your visit, such as your session state or your preferences. Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting (“first-party cookies”), while others are set by third parties that provide services used on the website (“third-party cookies”).

In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as pixel tags (small code snippets that can record a page view or conversion event) and local browser storage. Where these technologies serve the same purpose as cookies, we treat them under this policy in the same way and group them into the same categories (essential, analytics, and marketing).

2) Cookie lifespans and origins

Cookies can be classified by lifespan and by origin:

  • Session cookies are temporary and are removed when you close your browser. They are commonly used to maintain continuity as you navigate between pages.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until deleted. They can remember preferences (such as consent choices) between visits.
  • First-party cookies are set by Northgate Learning Studio’s website domain.
  • Third-party cookies are set by service providers (for example, analytics or advertising partners) when those tools are enabled.

Not every visit will result in every cookie being set. For example, if you reject analytics cookies, analytics identifiers should not be created by our site’s analytics configuration. Likewise, marketing cookies are not activated unless you opt in.

3) Cookie categories we use

A) Essential cookies (always on)

Essential cookies are required for core site functionality, security, and basic preference storage. These cookies do not require consent under many privacy frameworks because they are necessary to provide the service you request (i.e., access to the site and its key features). Disabling essential cookies may cause the site to malfunction.

  • Remembering your cookie consent choice so we do not ask you repeatedly.
  • Maintaining session continuity and security safeguards.
  • Supporting basic abuse prevention controls that help protect forms from automated submissions.

B) Analytics cookies (opt-in)

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site. They allow us to see which pages are read most often, how users move through the site, and which content sections are helpful. We use this information to improve course pages, webinar descriptions, and the overall clarity of the site.

When analytics cookies are enabled, we may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) configured with IP anonymization. We use analytics results in aggregate to improve content and navigation. Analytics data retention is typically configured for 14 months in GA4, though cookie lifetimes may be longer depending on the cookie type.

C) Marketing cookies (opt-in)

Marketing cookies are used for advertising measurement and to show relevant ads to people who have interacted with the site. This may include conversion attribution (for example, understanding whether a user came from an ad) and remarketing audiences (for example, showing a follow-up ad about a webinar schedule).

Marketing cookies may be associated with tools such as Google Ads conversion tracking and the Meta Pixel. Marketing cookies are not activated unless you opt in through our cookie banner or cookie preferences panel.

4) Cookie table

The table below lists the main cookies we use and/or may use when you enable optional categories. Some cookies are set only after consent. Names and retention periods can change when providers update their products; we aim to keep this table current and aligned with our configuration.

Name Purpose Category Type Retention
_site_session Site session continuity Essential First-party Session
cookie_consent Stores your consent choice Essential First-party 12 months
_ga GA4 user identifier Analytics Third-party 2 years
_ga_XXXXXXXXXX GA4 session state (10-char GA4 ID) Analytics Third-party 2 years
_gcl_au Google Ads conversion linker Marketing Third-party 90 days
_fbp Meta Pixel browser identifier Marketing Third-party 90 days
_fbc Meta Pixel click identifier Marketing Third-party 90 days

If you opt out of analytics or marketing cookies, we will not intentionally set new cookies in those categories from our site configuration. If third-party cookies exist from earlier consent (or from other websites), you can delete them using your browser settings. Our cookie controls also attempt to remove common marketing identifiers where possible.

5) Third-party providers

When you enable optional categories, third-party providers may receive cookie identifiers and event data (such as page views or conversions) according to their role. We configure these tools for measurement and improvement. We do not permit these providers to use site data for their own independent commercial purposes.

  • Google LLC (Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Tag Manager): analytics and advertising measurement, remarketing.
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta Pixel, conversion measurement): advertising measurement and remarketing.
  • Cloudflare (security and performance): may process IP-based signals for security and abuse prevention.

If you want more information about how these providers process data, refer to their privacy documentation. Your choices on this site determine whether their cookies or tags are activated here.

6) How to manage cookie preferences

You can control your cookie preferences in three ways:

  • Cookie banner and preferences panel: Use the cookie banner buttons or open the preferences panel from the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the footer. This allows you to enable or disable analytics and marketing cookies at any time.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers let you delete cookies, block third-party cookies, or block cookies entirely. Be aware that blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.
  • Provider-level controls: Some providers offer opt-out tools and advertising settings. These do not replace your choices on this site but can complement them.

Open the cookie preferences panel

Use the footer link “Manage cookie preferences” to review categories and save your choices. Essential cookies remain active, while analytics and marketing cookies depend on your selection.

If you withdraw consent, analytics and marketing cookies should stop being used on this site going forward. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before you changed your settings.

7) Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our cookie practices, technologies, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Where appropriate, we may also provide a notice on the website to highlight significant updates.
